Meeting, Evolution of banking from ERMA to present and future. Chair: Dr. Bob Johnson. Highlights will be reported from two important papers: A Harvard Business Review paper by Prof. Jim McKenna which cites the BofA/ERMA project as the breakthrough product that opened business worlswide to computerization; and a presentation entitled "Using the Computer: Episodes Across the Years", by David Allison, Chairman of Information Technology for the National Museum of American History, at an annual meeting of the Association for Computing Machinery. Dr. Bob Johnson will of discuss the the development by GE of the ERMA system, including contract negotiations as well as problems and successful breakthrough developments. A film of the closed-circuit BofA - GE Press conference announcing the installation of the ERMA system of the BofA Los Angeles center, moderated by Ronald Regan will be shown. A speaker from BofA's Corporate Communications and Technology will discuss present banking systems, how far the industry has come, and where it is going. | |
